Artist Statement

My passion is creating art for the pure exploration of my own creativity and a constant reflection of what excites me. After spending time at universities and earning degrees, I have come to realize that the most important thing artists can do is be true to, and explore theirselves. My stimulation is, and always has been, found in the out of touch, or rather, the untouched areas around us. Each piece is an individual expression of the uniqueness that I find in naturally occurring objects. For me, there is nothing more exciting than finding and viewing colors, textures, patterns, and forms that I have not seen before. My intent is not to replicate these objects but to simply translate what I have seen in unique and interesting ways. I work to embody the subtle delights of these details that can only be seen through intense investigation of the piece. Beauty for me is the quiet, the growing, the naturally emerging vessels produced by the earth. I in turn push my creativity to develop new objects that could likely be found living and growing in nature. How do they work? How do they happen? Why are they there? How do they differ? What else is hidden from my view for me to find? My inspiration lies in these questions, however, the most important question for me is: What can my own mind create to instill this curiosity about our natural world for others?
