"I enjoy creating all kinds of art, whether to be mounted on a wall, on the pages of a book or displayed on a computer screen. In my portraits the individual is in an unusual or ideal surrounding, where it has a special meaning to the person portrayed and where the whole painting tells a story. Vivid colors and a sense of movement are a constant in my work. I like to experiment with shapes and colors and present unexpected situations, often with a dash of humor, bringing a smile to others is always highly rewarding".
Carolina finds inspiration in almost everything; childhood comics and cartoons, architecture and the works of Antoni Gaudi, nature, science and technology, interior design, the world of fashion, her kid and her friends, pop culture and everyday life.
She's a versatile artist who admires the Impressionist and Modernist master painters. She favors semi-figurativism and her style is considered pop-surrealist.
Trained in both digital and traditional art, she can effortlessly transition from creating fun, carefree images to more abstract and complex ones.
Growing up in an artistic background, her family wasn't surprised when she announced at a very young age her desire to become a painter. Born in Madrid, Spain, and raised in the Canary Islands, she studied fashion design and painting and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a degree in Painting from the University of Madrid. Her interest in computers led her to obtain a certification in Graphic and Web Design from Sessions School of Design and New Media in New York.
Carolina’s published works have been included in Art Plus, Stockart and Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine. She has created illustration and animation for a variety of multimedia for children’s educational programs. She illustrated the U.S. multicultural “Char Siu Bao Boy” and “Bon Odori Dancer” (Polychrome Publishing), a book that was a Parent Council Selection.
She's a member of Greater Reston Arts Center (GRACE), The League of Reston Artists, the Artworks Gallery & Studio, and Washington DC's DEKKA. The artist has exhibited in both the U.S. and abroad.
